Rumba la vie

Rumba la vie

Tony, in his fifties, a school bus driver withdrawn, lives alone after having abandoned his wife and child twenty years earlier. Shaken by a heart attack, he finds the necessary courage to face his past and enroll incognito in the dance class led by his daughter, whom he has never known, with the aim of (re)conquering her and give meaning to his life.

Reviews

A funny and touching portrait, full of tenderness for its characters, and eminently popular.

Télé 2 semaines

Popular cinema as we like it, and a real favorite.

Télé Loisirs

Director Franck Dubosc offers actor Franck Dubosc a second film dancing on the tightrope of feelings in balance, swinging between gravity and tenderness. A thin rope, even more sensitive than the first time.

Dernières Nouvelles d’Alsace

Dubosc takes upon himself not to be so modern, to step aside, slightly offbeat. In Rumba, he finds with his male playmates, Jean-Pierre Darroussin and Michel Houellebecq, this art of misalignment, a way of being a little apart and above all, of being oneself.

  • By : Franck Dubosc
  • With : Franck Dubosc, Louna Espinosa, Jean-Pierre Darroussin
  • Year : 2022
  • Duration : 93 min.
  • Genre : Comedy
  • Language : French (English subtitles)
  • Country : France
  • Rating : All audience — Franck Dubosc wrote and directed this dramatic comedy in which he plays an old-fashioned man concerned about his virility who, confronted with his own mortality, changes his priorities. The film adopts a sober treatment and a light tone, despite some jokes with little sexual allusions. Indeed, the production with a familiar narrative pattern follows the conventions of entertainment accessible to the greatest number. [Régie du Québec]
